Using the data in this list, the percent of change
(appreciation rate) between any two points in time can be
computed.
Method: subtract earlier index point from more recent
index point and divide by earlier index point.
Examples:
Appreciation rate from 1980 to 1990:
( 73.35-59.55)/59.55 = 23.2%, or about 2% per year
Appreciation rate from 1990 to 1995:
(100-73.35)/73.35 = 36.3%, or about 7% per year
Appreciation rate from 1995 to 2000:
(130.73-100)/100 = 30.7%, or about 6% per year
Appreciation rate from 2000 to 2005:
(158.26-130.73)/130.73 = 21.1%, or about 4% per year
