“Getting around in Austin requires a bit of training. Just a few
rules: (1) It is pretty easy to go north- south, but hard to go
east-west. (2) Streets often have more than one name —
2222 changes to Northland, to Koenig, to Allandale and to 290
East. (3) Hwy 290 appears in several places - don't ask! (4)
Loop 1 is known as MoPac because it borders the Missouri-
Pacific railroad. (5) There are a lot of one-way streets downtown.
(6) If it snows, don't dare get in your car. (7) Honking
is considered rude. Enjoy your visit, and let me know if you
need a map!” Roselind
